If you've been alive for the past 5 years, you know you should care about your gut biome...
Sounds gross kinda...
It's also kinda important - like really important!
BUT we can life hack it & do it without even thinking about it.
We'll start with some why & then move onto the how.
Your gut is hosting a party & you're most certainly invited...There's trillions of guests & they're all there to see you. These fun little guys don't just digest your food - they communicate with so many systems within the body, hormones, immune system, mood & your skin!
When these troopers are balanced & happy they work with you & support your body....When they aren't...boy can they cause problems!
Around 70% of your immune system is based in the gut!
About 90% of your serotonin is made in the gut...
There are even special bacteria that breakdown excess estrogen!
So it's safe to say - you want to keep those lodgers in order or face the often subtle but far reaching consequences!
There's a few ways to tell if your gut biome is out of whack:*
*I am not a doctor - if you have any symptoms please consult your doctor.
Digestive clues (bloating, gas, new sensitivities)
Low Energy & Brain Fog
Hormone Issues
Immune issues
Strong Cravings
Now the how...
Let's life-hack a happy gut - we don't need to get weird about it!
Add, don’t restrict - Focus on adding plants instead of cutting foods out.
One fermented thing a day - A spoon of yogurt, kefir, kimchi, or sauerkraut counts.
Chew your food - Boring? Yes. Powerful? Also yes. Digestion starts in the mouth.
Exhale before you eat - One deep breath tells your gut it’s safe to digest.
Manage stress - Your gut feels stress immediately — even before your brain catches up.
Be consistent, not intense - Your gut prefers daily basics over random “resets.”
Avoid:
Constant ultra-processed foods - can invite unwanted guests to our gut-party.
Too much alcohol - can irritate gut lining
Chronic Stress - Stress alters digestion, slows motility & gut bacteria composition.
Overdoing “gut health” products - More isn’t better — better is better.
Poor sleep - Your gut loves routine — especially sleep.
I hope this is helpful & clears up what you can do for the guys in your gut! It's a really simple change that can really give your mind, skin & immune system the boost it needs especially in these winter months, we could all use some glowy skin & a lifted mood!
As always, if nutrition is something you could use a little guidance with or even a full structured meal plan, drop me a message & we can have a quick consultation to see what program you could most benefit from!
