Self-care isn't a chore. Read that again.
Looking after the mind, body + soul, isn't a chore. It's something we get to do unapoligetically + its actually fairly cruicial.

What it looks like to each one of us is totally unique, but essential none the less.
So why do we neglect it so much?
I don't have time to go to the gym...
I don't have time to read...
I can't sit + journal how I feel beacause...
I can't make my lunch ready for tomorrow...
If you look, you will find an excuse to not do almost anything. Likewise, if you really want to do something, you will do almost anything to make it happen.
When forming a new habit, or promising ourselves something, start small, start with an achievable goal rather that over comitting to something + ultimatley sabotaging yourself. This can look like the following:
Read 1 page of a book a day
Write 1 line about your feelings for the day
Do 10 minutes of exercise a day

"Actions speak louder than words"
You've heard it 1000 times, but did you know...when you think about your goals/doing something, you get a small release of the same chemicals in your brain as if you were to actually achieve your goals?!
So, sometimes we can actually think ourselves out of taking action!
Rather than thinking about doing something, challenge yourself to actually take a physical step towards what is it you want to happen...
Take the book out + put it beside your bed
Put your gym kit out ready to go
Leave meal prep food items out
Bribe yourself! When I've done...I can do...(We're basically giant children)
Overall we need to alter our mindsets, that it's not that we dont actually have time, more that we don't make the time.
Make the time for you, your self motivation will snowball as you learn to put your wants + needs first.
As you start to become the type of person you want to be, you will cultivate more self love along the way... And we all need an extra helping of that!
