I hear ya! DON'T WE ALL...
It's like the dream, unfortunately...It's easier said than done.
To maintain muscle, you need calories, to lose fat, you need less calories...to build muscle, you need to lift weights, to burn fat, you need to do cardio.
To do both of these things simultaneously, is hard.
It's a tricky thing to master, but there's a few ways you can give yourself the best chance!
1. Up your cardio
Supplement the cardio in your training, up it by a little...but not too much.
Add 20 minutes of cardio of your choice twice a week to begin with.
2. Up your weights
When you're losing weight, you need your body to understand that it's not allowed to burn off that sweet muscle! So keep your lifting a priority. Make sure you're lifting weights in atleast 3 of your sessions. Go heavy with lower reps.
3. Keep your calories up
Most importantly!!! If you don't want to kick yourself in the t*ts - keep your calories the same! Do not drastically drop your calories else you will lose muscle + fat + no one wins! This does depend on how drastic your goals are + how much you care about keeping muscle - but to keep balance I'd change your workouts first then look at diet after.
I'm not saying it's witchcraft, but it's pretty similar magic to get the elusive fat loss + muscle maintenance! But we can try!
