Who likes to smash the gym 7 days a week for your sanity?...Me too.
As far as coping mechanisms go, there are worse, but you could be cock blocking your gains.

In sports science the theory of Supercompensation states that with the correct combination of training load + appropriate recovery, an athlete will not only return to their base level of performance but will actually develop the ability to perform at a higher level.
In other words, we need to rest to allow the body to adapt to the training we just put it through.
Muscles repair, ligaments + tendons (which take longer than muscles to repair) begin to adapt to new stressors. Your nervous system recovers, testosterone + cortisol levels normalise. This all happens in preparation for the next phase of your training.
So the idea is you're giving your body the chance to catch up, ready to take on a higher level of training intensity.

BUT I WILL MURDER SOMEONE IF I DONT GO TO THE GYM...also me too.
A deload week isn't necessarily a week of no gym, but rather a decrease in volume + intensity for your mind as well as your body.
Some signs you may need a deload week:
Feeling weak/drained
Performance indicaters(weights/reps)
Sore joints
Lack of motivation to train
So ask yourself honestly...do I rest enough for the training I do?
If the answer is no, try a deload week + get ready to up your game!
