Why the toxic return of "skinny" is bad for woman-kind

If you know Wild Women Fitness - you know my ethos.

I want you gals strong, healthy & apocalypse ready.

Nowhere in my protocol does that include shrinking your body to fit some delusional standard of beauty that involves starving yourself & trying to be as small as possible.

Growing up in the height of "heroin chic" & being built like an actual pear, I definitley felt that pressure to be a different person essentially (because with the body I've been given, low-rise trousers were never in my future) & to think of my body as not good enough.

In our younger years it's easy to fall for the marketing mind-fuckery spells that are cast upon girls from as young as 6...but now we're grown I think we should know better.

We are living in the most informed generation yet, we have access to all the data.

And what does the data tell us??

That being healthy doesn't equate to being as small as possible...it's about more!

So many studies tell us more muscle, more movement, more food!

“Adults with higher levels of muscular strength … had a lower risk of all-cause mortality … with a slightly stronger association in women.”*

*García-Hermoso A, Cavero-Redondo I, Ramírez-Vélez R, et al. Muscular strength as a predictor of all-cause mortality in an apparently healthy population: a systematic review and meta-analysis of data from approximately 2 million men and women. The ozempic nightmare

I don't need to explain how I feel about the weightloss jabs - they have their place but are horrendously misused. They aren't just perpetuating this toxic trend - they're normalizing taking massive risks with your health & not considering long-lasting effects that we haven't seen play out long-term. (What stands out to me is the massive decrease in muscle mass that comes with these jabs). Celebrities who utilize these jabs are being idolised & commended for their "hardwork" & weightloss!

Social Media ShitShow

The next star in our show...If you didn't know it yet Social Media is here to market ideas to you without you even knowing it! Being shown extremely thin people increases body dissatisfaction within ourselves & reaffirms unattainable (or sustainable) standards.

This isn't just about the physical - it emotional & psychological warfare.

For so long it felt like woman-kind was moving forward - we were learning to deeply love & accept ourselves. Understanding that our health was all we really had & that being a solid 80 year old moving plant pots was the new thing!!

I truly thought the tide was turning for all those young girls coming up behind us & that they'd never have to endure low-rise jeans again! Yet here we are...

And I still have hope!

Because wonderful people, like you, are here reading...because we still know deep down, we are here on earth to do so much more than worry about "muffin-tops" & "pouches"!

Don't get to 70 & regret wasting the best years of your life comparing yourself to some photoshopped woman on the TV or some equally edited random influencer!

Join the rebellion of the century & f*cking love yourself!
